Guide

Create a set of world, region, or city names with syllable cues, descriptive epithets, and story prompts.

Decide what the name has to do

A whole world, a city, and a small island need different supporting context. Choose the scale first, then consider who gave the place its name: residents, conquerors, traders, or an outsider. The generator supplies a sound palette and prompts; your history gives the name its meaning.

Reuse sounds to imply a shared history

Related places can share endings, consonants, or a naming rhythm. Pick one sound family and apply it consistently before inventing exceptions. Lyrical favors flowing syllables, Rugged favors heavier clusters, Strange uses less familiar combinations, and Plainspoken joins recognizable English fragments.

Keep names usable aloud and on a map

Read each candidate aloud in a sentence. Compare it with the names of important characters and neighboring places. If several look too similar at a glance, change their length or first letter. The dotted sound cues show construction pieces, not an authoritative pronunciation.

Research a shortlist before publishing

Constructed names can overlap with existing books, games, brands, personal names, or words in real languages. Search your final candidates and consider relevant languages and markets. The generator makes no claim that a result is unique, culturally neutral, or legally available.

How the result is made

Names are assembled from style-specific onset, middle, and ending libraries, shuffled reproducibly, and deduplicated. Landscape and mood control separate epithets and worldbuilding prompts. No real-language translation or availability lookup is used. This is a deterministic, browser-local guided generator, not a language model. Identical inputs and variation number reproduce the same draft. No model inference, fact checking, originality clearance, or performance prediction is performed. Review and edit before use.
